What We Do
Our Mission
This trail group has formed to actively promote the development of trails in the region of the
McKean/Elk County line. We will engage in the design, funding, construction, mapping, and
maintenance of a network of multi-purpose, non-motorized (hiking, biking, cross-country skiing, and
snowshoeing) trails and trailheads within this area of the Pennsylvania Wilds region. We view the
former Knox/Kane railroad grade as the main artery for this trail network. The Association believes in
creating these opportunities to promote outdoor recreation and physical fitness, as well as preserving
areas of natural or historical significance, and educating trail users about these features.
TAMED Strives to:
Promotes outdoor recreation and physical fitness as well as preserve areas of natural and historical significance.
Be advocates of the Knox & Kane Rail Trail between Lantz Corners and Sheffield Junction.
Be respectful of all other users and property owners along the trail.
What We’ve Achieved
TAMED has decked three bridges and constructed over 19 miles of trail.
The trail is a compacted, crushed limestone surface.
